Re. Coyotes chase, bite dogs (Castanet, July 3)
I read the above article. I believe the dogs were not leashed when they should have been, thus causing them to chase the one coyote that was leading the dogs into a trap.This is a common occurrence to kill dogs .
This would not have happened if the dogs were on leashes. We must remember coyotes were here thousands of years before us and are entitled to be here, although unwanted by cat and dog owners.
I had a constant battle with coyotes on my acreage in Alberta and I won.
I would suggest buying bear spray or a flashlight stun/Taser gun for protection and, of course, putting leashes on your dogs.
If you don't leash the dogs, you are the problem.
