Worry about U.S. decision

Re. Robert Hepting's letter Why protest U.S. decision? (Castanet, June 28)

In response to Robert Hepting's letter about the U.S. Suprem Court ruling on abortion, abortion is not actually protected by law in Canada.

It is decriminalized and covered under (provincial) laws that (provide for) it, meaning the possibility of abortion being banned in Canada is a real and scary possibility.

There are already political representatives looking at the U.S.’s current situation and using it as a blueprint.

Reproductive rights are actively being attacked and it is naive to think this won't affect Canadians in one way or another.

If we can condemn Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, we can condemn the U.S. for this horrible and disgusting decision.

We don't have to pick one issue over another.
