Re. David Buckna’s letter No to lifting plane vax rules (Castanet, May 23)
David, transmission and infection (of COVID-19) are still possible, and very common, while being fully vaccinated, so your letter does not provide adequate justification for keeping these (airport and airline) rules.
You refer to doctors attributing vaccination to reduced hospitalization and death. Fabulous, but why is that a criteria for boarding a plane or train? Because it's "the right thing to do?"
That is not a good enough reason to restrict millions of Canadians from traveling in their own country. Smoking is one of the worst things you can do for your own health. It is proven to put you at a higher risk for hospitalization and premature death but we are not banning smokers from boarding planes and never would.
I appreciate your well-researched references to science but some common sense would go a long way.
