Incentivize garbage disposal

Re.: Poll: Garbage in the bush

I too am frequently disgusted by the garbage which litters the trails I hike and ride on in and around Summerland.

And it’s becoming worse now that the landfill charges for disposal of garbage.

With money being tight, is it any wonder some people elect to toss their refuse into the bush rather than pay?

Governments should encourage good behaviour rather than penalize bad behaviour (through increased fines).

Perhaps, make the landfills free to use or pay by donation or by demonstrable means. Maybe consider an incentive and “pay” people to bring their garbage to the dump.

Such a program will inject money into the economy and help to clean-up the environment. A win-win for all.
