I think VP is a little off base in his letter in regards to the tragedy on Springfield on Sunday.
As we get more experienced in life, most of us tend to gain some common sense. Many of the younger drivers are still in the beginning stages of that process.
I can remember when I was a teen that I thought it was for the older people that the posted signs were there. Now, when I am 55, and have seen senseless tragedy over the years on our highways, I can see that the posted signs are there to help us all. If everyone drove according to the rules, we would have very few of these tragedies.
The fact is, we are driving lethal weapons and have other people's lives in our control when we get behind the wheel. We need to respect that fact and when we don't regard other people's lives, we need to be punished accordingly.
I believe our court system is taking this point far too lightly. On Sunday, this woman paid the ultimate price, and it was so not necessary.
