Sidewalk cyclist danger

I watch people on bicycles racing up and down the sidewalks ... really crazy on the sidewalk on Lakeshore Drive.

I witnessed a person hit by a bike – no injury, thank God.

But what happens if a person walking on a sidewalk is hit by a bike that is traveling at high speed behind you and – bang – you are on the ground in pain?

Who pays for your injuries – which could be very serious?

Cyclists do not have insurance as far as I know. So if you get a broken leg, lose some teeth or hit your head on the sidewalk and have a brain injury, who pays and looks after you?

We really need to have this issue addressed sooner than later.
