Another bites the dust

Statues.

Another on bites the dust. First MacDonald. This time Ryerson. Next time?

Why did we put politicians on a pedestal? Plaster their names on schools, bridges and buildings.

I never learned of the tragic misfortune of Indigenous peoples in any history classes in school. I was aware growing up of a residential school in Lebret, SK. I never thought how they may have been forcibly taken from their parents. I thought the school was there for connivence as it was located on the White Calf (Wa-Pii Moos-Toosis) Reserve.

Maybe the time has come to place every political statue in Canada in a museum along with the real story why they were removed. They are but an ancient reminder of a sorry past.

One final suggestion. Take their mug shots off our money reserving that privilege for outstanding Canadians who made a positive contribution to Canada like Terry Fox.
