Ground the flights

This is my response to Castanet’s request for readers' thoughts on travel restrictions, and I write on behalf of all small business owners struggling to survive. The most important and most critical travel restrictions that our governments, provincially and federally, need to enforce immediately, is overseas travel. It is common sense to not allow flights from outside countries during this time, especially from Covid hot spots like Delhi. My blood pressure exploded when I read all of the exposures on recent flights.

Please let us learn from countries like Australia and New Zealand that have had success in managing Covid outbreaks.

Our businesses are restricted, our revenues are plummeting, yet ridiculous large extended families are travelling from Covid hot spots for family weddings in Canada? The borders must close. Federal borders can be enforced, provincial boarders cannot. Let’s protect Canada, and not continue to increase the pressure on our health system. Ground flights so that we can survive.
