Megaproject Good For Kelowna

I dont know why there is so much talk about the Pandosy Landing project. Is it really up to us Kelowna residents.

I for one like the idea because building means growth. Everyone wants a plant to grow, their children to grow, their bank account to grow, their business to grow... I can go on.

But no one seems to want Kelowna to grow into a prosperous city. Someone mentioned in a previous letter about the increase in profits to downtown businesss and job creation. What's wrong with that?

The only defense is that the "project" will take away from lake views. I have lived in Kelowna for ten years and and have I ever stood in that area of town and looked at the "view"? No. If there was a building there I would walk just a little down the street in case of a water viewing emergency. It's just one tiny block people, if there were only a one story building on the lot, Im afraid your still not gonna see the lake unless you're between it and the lake.

I think this project would be beautiful to look at in itself. Take a walk by the Grand Hotel, the Dolphins or a little south at Manteo Resort. The buildings are very nice, the landscaping is wonderful with all of the flowers trees and fountains. A project like that would be just as attractive. So let it happen Kelowna. Look at the +s, not the -s.
