Stop the burning

On the way home today I couldn't help but notice all the smoke in the valley.  I counted at least 8 large, green, dirty fires burning.  While they do give interesting and picturesque sunsets, they also damage lungs and the environment.  Why is this still allowed by farms?

If I decided to burn all my green waste from my yard, the fire department would be at my home with a hose and a hefty fine.  Ridiculous for a city that prides itself on visitors enjoying a clean and natural stay here, today I can't see across the lake.  Treat the farms like everyone else, we have the technology, we have the motivation, all we need is a city council to treat us all fair and equal.
