Don't infringe on my rights

Re: Enforce mask requirements

I was reading this letter which was posted on Castanet and in the words of the author, Disgusting!

Why is it disgusting? Well simply "I noticed that a couple of people in line were not wearing masks and confronted them and told them to put on masks"

The expectation from the author was that of compliance and zero tolerance "What the hell is going on here?"

Given that Canada has freedom of speech and expression even during times of force majeure in which the Emergencies Act is in place and which the preamble states: "AND WHEREAS the Governor in Council, in taking such special temporary measures, would be subject to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Canadian Bill of Rights and must have regard to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, particularly with respect to those fundamental rights that are not to be limited or abridged even in a national emergency;"

I have an expectation that the author "John" has indeed read this piece of legislation before writing his letter. If not please explain how intolerance and confrontation is the only course of action in resolving the issue?

It is my belief that if you are not solving problems you are causing problems and "John" is not solving problems.
