The fear of fellow man

There has been non stop talk about COVID-19 and fear. Online wars between masks and non masks. Conspiracies, more hate for our government. But has anyone addressed the fear that some people may be feeling? The fear of their fellow man?

I know a virus, its intention is to take over its host. It doesn't care who you are, it can come out of nowhere, and it doesn't discriminate or care who it attacks. But the people in our community can be really scary, unpredictable, and an attack come from someone that you know.

I do not fear COVID-19, I do not blame anyone for what's happening, I do care about those in my community, and I also fear those in my community. While walking down the street, I just got off the city bus and still had my mask on. A man walking towards me, pointed to his face, commented about new wearing one walking down the street and then wagged his finger at me. Why? What purpose did that serve him? I watched my back as he walked pass me, I quickly crossed the street and kept watching him. He was not happy that I had my mask on even though it didn't affect him in anyway. The virus isn't scary, people are.
