Quit the racket!

I share Ana-Maria Sarria's concern in her letter to Castanet, Aug. 29, "Quiet the sirens at night."
Sirens are screaming in Kelowna 24/7. As well, commercial garbage pick-ups often clang away soon after 5 a.m most mornings.
I've written mayor and council about the too early garbage pick-ups, and was repeatedly told that they can't infringe upon early morning delivery services.

Mayor Basran equates the astounding noise of front-loading garbage trucks to the delivering of milk and eggs. Absurd.
Once again, these are clear examples of mayor and council ignoring the health and welfare of residents. Bylaws are needed promptly in this regard.
