EV charging an issue

All of those who have written in about owning an electric car seem awfully self-righteous.

My wife and I would love to own one. I'm certain there are lots of people who would.

The reality in our situation is that we rent. We don't have any plugs to charge an EV.

According to the rental housing index, there are approximately 21,000 rental units in the Central Okanagan. Assuming 25% don't own a car, such as students or the elderly who no longer drive, that leaves a number of approximately 15,750 cars.

Mission Flats, being one of the newest rental properties, has 128 units. They do offer EV charging stations, how many I don't know as it isn't listed, but surely they don't have anywhere near enough.

An April 11 poll by Castanet asked about ditching gas. The total number of votes was 7,043. Of those, 3,432 said no to ditching gas. I was one, as I have no place to charge an EV. I'm certain that would be the reason behind many of those votes.

Don't forget about about all the condo buildings with no plugs, either. I only looked into rentals as that's where I live. With 48% of people saying no, it would seem reasonable that if EVs are to become the norm, then renters need a guaranteed way to charge them.

Before getting down on people for using gasoline, perhaps spend a little time digging into the possible reasons.
