Too many boats on lake

Blackmun Bay Village has requested a licence from the provincial government for a boat launch on Crown land serviced by a paved, one-lane road through a property designated as ALR.

This proposal is requesting the boat launch on behalf of the 800 upland residents who supposedly will reside on the escarpment above Campbell Road at some time in the future.

This one lane road down through the orchard would also service their orchard, winery restaurant, tasting room, yachting facilities, a boat launch, a 242-slip marina and a public beach.

Paved roads are not permitted on ALR land and, furthermore, there is not enough room in the Blackmun proposal to turn a truck and trailer around or to navigate the traffic circle on Campbell Road. Blackmun Bay Village is an oxymoron ... they continue to have the audacity to request ridiculous accomodations for their project that is totally out of the realm of common sense.

Now, the WFN is proposing to add 549 slips to the Shelter Bay Marina between the Bennett Bridge and Blackmun Orchard. They can't be serious.

Who can exhibit some common sense and foresight regarding the future of the Okanagan? Is West Kelowna council supportive of this type of flagrant development? Does the province care about the Liberal-leaning Okanagan? Are these developments in the best interests of future generations?

As Joannie Mitchell sang ... pave over paradise and put up a parking lot! They can turn Okanagan Lake into a parking lot with shore to shore boats!

Unfortunately, the lake on the south side of the Bennett Bridge is already becoming extremely congested.
