I have read story after story relating to the cruel treatment of animals.
A kitten that ingested meth and found in a dumpster, two found abandoned by a trucker on the side of the road, a mother with her litter of puppies abandoned, and a deer shot with an arrow and suffering.
Seriously, what is wrong with people?
The fines and punishment for those caught abusing animals are ridiculously lax and most, if caught, get nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
In this day of political debate and so many differences, surely we can come together and unite behind far stiffer penalties and much more aggressive enforcement.
It's time to take the abuse inflicted on these animals far more seriously and nail the culprits with real fines and jail time. Enough already.
