The letter writer was glad the government is taking the issue of guns so seriously. My question is, what issue? Canada does not have a gun problem! Look at the statistics.

The flu kills more people here than guns do.

The only way to legally purchase a firearm here is to first get certified through a safety course to obtain your possession and acquisition licence (PAL), and an extra course to get your restricted RPAL.

You then have to submit your application to the RCMP, who does extensive background checks before finally mailing you your licence.

Criminals do not acquire firearms this way. Legal gun owners should not be the target here.

This motion does absolutely nothing to reduce gun crime. It solely incriminates legal gun owners who use their firearms for hunting and sport shooting.

And if you don't even own a firearm, what makes you think you have any right to dictate the laws regarding gun ownership?

It's people who've spent their entire lives in the city, trying to make decisions for the entire population. You have zero clue how life works outside of your concrete jungle. Stay in your own lane.
