Thanks Hockey Academy

After two consecutive years of flooding in the Okanagan but spared the hardship for 2019, we look back in appreciation to the Okanagan Hockey Academy organization and its teen age participants that assisted our Strata with emergency sand bagging in both 2017 and 2018.

On May 1st, 2018 the OHA was able to send 29 teen women to attack the mound of sand and 45 pallets of pre-filled sand bags.

In the space of 90 minutes 2,200 sandbags were placed around our lake front well house. With the sandbags weighing about 50 lbs, each young lady filled, moved multiple times and placed about 3,783 lbs of sand. Wow!

At the 45-minute mark water was brought out for a break. The young ladies were thankful for the water and indicated they didn't take breaks.

Many of the young women had assisted the Strata in both 2017 and 2018. On both occasions the youth demonstrated team work, task focus, perseverance and positive presentation.

Thank you Okanagan Hockey Academy and participants for all your emergency volunteer work during the two floods of 2017 and 2018.
