Missing the point

Re: Ben Reiner's letter of March 16, Who Am I To Disagree?

It appears Reiner missed the point of Roger Von Dach's letter.

The letter was in response to the punitive carbon tax. Everything else in Reiner's letter is merely Liberal flak.

The truth of the matter is there are two ways to address our use of fossil fuels. Negatively or positively.

Trudeau wants to punish us with a carbon tax, while giving us few viable alternatives, which may or may not have a negligible effect on our lives, but definitely put more money in government coffers.

The other is a positive, rebate-based incentive program much like what was done in the 1970s to get oil furnace users to change to natural gas. A similar program could be used to augment one's energy source with geo-thermal, solar, etc.

Sorry, Mr. Reiner. I agree with Roger, but I see this as just another tax grab to help cover the costs of a prime minister who's spending is out of control and needs excuses to increase taxes.

Trudeau is peeing on our backs and telling us it's raining – and Ben, you bought it.

Robert Brown, Cranbrook
