Definition of insanity

We have all heard the definition of insanity – doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Well, welcome to Kelowna city council.

The mayor and some council members were re-elected, yet people somehow expected they would do something differently.

They had no intention of listening to the public on the ridiculous idea of providing drug atticts a safe place to do their thing. Rather, they just wanted them off the street and out of sight, as they have no clue how to actually deal with the problem.

Instead, they are throwing away our tax dollars to “support” drug addicts with a nice place to live, assistance so they can take their illegal drugs in a nice, safe environment, and even paid staff to help them when, not if, they overdose – all at a time when the money is desperately needed elsewhere.

Why would they do this? To get them away from the public eye because it’s an embarrassment to them and their political careers.

Enabling addicts will not help them get off of drugs.

I think it’s high time for the residents of Kelowna to start protesting. Look at the yellow vest movement, maybe it’s time Kelowna did the same.

The next civic election is a long way away, and we can’t wait.

Ken Quesnel, Kelowna
