To the Editor:
With reference to your article " Kelowna Log Home Nightmare" posted June 30th, we would like to share our story of our dream log home provided by Al Morgan at Northern Log Homes. We were surprised to read their story, because it is quite different from our experience.
During 2002-03, we built our log home using a package from Northern Log Homes. After researching several local and regional log home builders, we decided that Northern Log Homes was our best option and have never regretted that decision. That decision was based on the experience and good reputation of Al Morgan and Northern Log Homes, and was confirmed by visiting existing customers and seeing the great quality of the product. They also happen to offer the best priced package we could find.
It would be interesting to know if the unhappy couple in your article had used the services of a professional log home builder or if they tried to put the package together themselves. Again, we had done extensive research into building a log home and although it appears an easy task to pile logs on top of one another, we kept on reading advice in log home magazines that recommended using a professional log home builder. We used the services of a professional log home builder that happens to be Al Morgan's son, whom we are very happy with and possibly the reason we avoided the problems this couple are having.
Lastly, we would like to question the professionalism of your journalist (audio) who appeared from his questioning to assume that Northern Log Homes was at fault without researching both sides of the story.
We would be happy to recommend Al Morgan and Northern Log Homes and still trust his handshake, and believe that nobody can be in business for 44 years without being honest and providing a quality product. We are thrilled with our "Kelowna Log Home Dream".
