The Pied Piper is definitely a great analogy; though it's more pertinent with regard to the modern progressive left and their endless social outcry and virtue signalling than it is to those who understand what Trump stands for – Nationalism and traditionalism.

These are not frightening words or concepts, nor should they be. Conservatism is the new counterculture, and its arbiters are many; hardly rats standing in line.

To anyone citing outlets such as the Washington Post or CNN (or even Fox, for that matter) with regard to facts, it's worth noting that the reason modern journalism is becoming so heavily maligned is due to a pesky little thing called lies of omission.

On the one hand, you have outlets that write with a slant due to in-grown biases, and on the other you have what amounts to controlled opposition.

Don't ever assume that journalistic integrity within the legacy media still exists. Donor money and investment decide how reporting is conducted, and in this case, that means reporting in such a way that it spins stories by leaving out details that would otherwise derail de-facto hit pieces, or at the very least in a way that supports an agenda and manufactures collective, propagandized opinion.

We live in a day and age where grassroots, independent journalism and commentary is eating up the old-guard media's market share.

Someone in their bedroom on YouTube providing critical analysis of politics and social issues garners more of a following and more views than a media machine that doesn't quite yet understand what it's doing wrong. And in the case of both the right and the left, this is playing off of ideology and social upheaval rather than true empirical data.

Form your own opinions. Do not let others blindly guide your path, lest you be herded from Hamelin.
