Concern over neighbours

We are senior apartment owners in Ambrosi Tower.

We support housing for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. As citizens of Kelowna, we are aware of the current housing crisis for this population and realize the need for affordable housing for them.

Our concerns about the proposed supportive housing at 2025 Agassiz Road are:

  • This is a predominantly seniors community
  • Seniors moved to this area to be in close proximity and walking distance to shopping, doctors and other amenities
  • Many of the residents have mobility issues, use assistive devices and no longer have drivers licences
  • The proposed housing project is creating huge anxiety among these owners as they are fearful that their safety and mobility will be compromised and their daily routines will be diminished
  • The residents of the proposed housing project maybe unpredictable
  • There is no guarantee that, despite the supervision suggested, they can eliminate the possible risks of aggressive behaviour

There is an identified need for affordable seniors housing, and we strongly feel that this property would be a good fit for this.

One of our major concerns is the decline in surrounding property values as identified by various realtors.

Milica Csonka, Kelowna
