Helping the homeless

Recently, some friends from our community put on a free barbecue and winter clothes giveaway for the less fortunate near the Gospel Mission.

We were able to get donations from a few companies. Thank you BC Tree Fruits, Sun-Rype, Real Canadian Superstore, and Aitken Group Realty. It is because of you the event was a huge success.

Yvonne Hauk organized a clothes drive. Thank you! My sister Rebecca Aitken gave away 100 new pairs of socks filled with fruit. Thank you! Todd Cashin for his guidance and support. Thank you! And, of course, my own family and friends. Thank you!

The less fortunate were very appreciative for what we did.

I encourage all to help our fellow man when we can. Remember, no-one has ever said “When I grow up I want to be homeless.”

Be kind to each other and remember: together we can make a difference.
