Learn how to drive!

I said it before, and I say it again. Speed does not kill, speed "difference" kills.

These words have been used by ICBC and are about as stupid as a "near miss." A near miss is a collision. They nearly missed, but didn't.

It all comes down to G forces. It has been said that if you hit a concrete wall at 40 km/h it's fast enough to kill you. Well, a person on a bicycle can do that speed, and if it's a head-on, it's fatal.

The increased speed limit is not the problem, the drivers are the problem.

There is nothing wrong with our highways, either. However, I often wonder who decided which section of the highways should have a higher limit and which ones should not.

The Connector as well as the Coquihalla used to be 110 km/h, nobody drove that speed. Now, it is 120 km/h and nobody keeps that speed. As a matter of fact, if you drive the posted speed limit, any limit for that matter, you get the feeling that you are an obstacle.

We should stop using statistics to determine things like that. If you have two accidents instead of one, that is a 100 per cent increase. If you have 200 instead of 100, that is also 100 per cent.

If you say that 35 per cent of all accidents are caused by speed or alcohol, or whatever, that means 65 per cent of accidents are caused by non-speeders or non-drinkers.

Driving does not start with driving, it starts with education and, in my opinion, that is where the problem is.
