Vote for man of integrity

We must make the right choices for our city and for our residents when we vote.

It is imperative that our elected mayor and council continue to work together cohesively for the betterment of all, not just for the benefit of a select group of elitists.

We need a leader, loyal to his constituents, that can continue to guide his council colleagues to take the right steps and to make justified decisions for our community as a whole.

It speaks volumes that our current experienced and qualified councillors (out of respect, admiration and support), opted not to run against the man best suited for the job, their current leader.

Mayor Colin Basran has easily proven himself as an effective and prosperous head of Kelowna’s governing body.

Much has been reported about his many achievements and the exceptional accomplishments of his council. An impressive resume that lists myriad skills and successes.

I want to speak to this engaging man’s impeccable character. Colin Basran is a man of integrity. He is genuine and sincere, honest and fair, compassionate and accepting, and inclusive of all; regardless of skin colour, sexual orientation, or social station. These are innate qualities and traits of a truly good man. A wonderful son, husband, father, and a trusted friend to so many.

Unbelievably, some say Kelowna is becoming too multicultural. What? That’s like saying the sky is too blue. A ridiculous concept.

I find this Trump-like attitude grossly offensive, not only because I am the daughter of immigrants, but because I am a human being, like Basran, who cares about all people.

There is no disputing the fact that our natural landscape and resources make Kelowna one of the most beautiful cities on Earth, but it is our richness of cultures and our diversity that make up Kelowna’s fabric. And the very reason I am proud to call Kelowna home!

Diana Dors, Kelowna
