Trump faithful turn blind eye

Re: Trump haters 'deranged'

Contrary to what the writer states, I think the Donald Trump “love syndrome" is at new heights.

To use some of Mr. Novak's words, it’s breathtaking just how deeply it has taken over the minds of the gullible right. He suggests we should ignore all of Trump's failings (many of which are serious)  and “focus on the actual  outcome.”

When you look at the actual economic outcome, you find that unemployment declined (Novak suggests it increased) from 7.8  to 4.8 per cent under Obama and to 3.9 per cent under Trump.

GDP has increased under Trump, as it did under Obama, but what Novak fails to consider in rallying for Trump is that the Federal Reserve’s easy monetary policy, which has been in place since the fall of 2008, has had a significant positive impact.

One economic number Novak fails to mention is that the deficit will increase from $585 billion during Obama’s last year to a projected $987 billion in 2020 as a result of Trump’s policies.

And how about the actual outcome of things like children being separated from their parents at the border? But we shouldn’t consider those issues, as “concentrating solely on those things draws on superficial emotions only.”

What Trump supporters turn a blind eye to is that he is a dangerous, narcissistic psychopath and pathological liar who treats non-believers with total disdain. He alienates his country’s most loyal allies, yet cozys up to brutal dictators and sided with Russia's Putin, who is an enemy, during the infamous Helsinki news conference.

I wonder if this is what Novak meant when he mentioned diplomacy.

And I am right of centre on the political spectrum.
