Marijuana ruined summer

I've always been accepting of the use of recreational cannabis for adults.

As with everything in life, there’s a time and a place, so let me explain how something so benign has affected us here in Okanagan Falls.

We live within 50 metres of the huge Suniva marijuana production facility construction site, which began land clearing and grading in March.

We thought the majority of noise would end in in a few months and the building of the structures would begin.

As of July, the heavy equipment is still running six days a week, 7 a.m. till 7 p.m. Back up alarms, vibrating compactors, dozers, haul buggies, off-highway trucks and piling drills make up the noise and dust pollution created form this massive land redesign.

And just when you think an area is done with the final grade, a dozer goes through a finished area with the ripper down, and they start all over again.

We live in a perpetual construction zone. It just doesn’t seem to have a conclusion.

We moved to the Okanagan for peace and quiet, but that’s yet to happen. On the positive side, it is very quiet here during the nighttime.

Terry Gierulski, OK Falls
