Let's play it safe out there

Re: Cyclists ignore the rules

I apologize that you've run into some people on bikes who don't follow the rules of the road. Though, in the same turn, I wish someone would apologize for the numerous people in cars who speed, roll through stop signs, blow traffic lights, text, tailgate, etc.

Acting just as badly is not the way to find a solution. If we all tried to act in the best manner we could, then there would be a lot less mess on the road, friendlier travels, lowered stress.

People on bikes are not out to get you, or anyone else in a car. They are trying to get from point A to B, safely. Just like all other road users, sometimes they don't make the same choice as someone else, but in what way does that really inconvenience us?

We need to remember that we're all part of the community out there. What we do affects other people.

Parking in bike lanes is illegal, and forces people on bikes into traffic.

People on bikes riding two abreast are not riding legally, and might force a driver to cross the centre line to pass.

The person in the car has better visibility and a bunch of safety devices, while the person on a bike has a helmet.

Let's try to keep everyone safe out there.
