It goes without saying how devastated our organization is over this terrible tragedy. Words cannot express the pain we all feel for the families, the community of Humboldt and the Broncos organization.
As someone who grew up and played hockey in Saskatchewan, the sense of loss that everyone feels is indescribable. Not only do we mourn for the victims and their families, but we mourn for the community members as well. These players and staff become family and form an important part of the community.
The grief everyone is feeling cannot be imagined.
There is no way to make sense of what happen. We all stand in disbelief, shocked, stunned and weak, as our hearts ache over the loss.
The outpouring of support is a testament to how important and loved these people are, and how much of a loss we all feel. Worldwide people are sharing in the pain, and we can take some comfort knowing we are not facing the grief alone.
I was reviewing the comments on the gofundme page and it's almost overwhelming to see how moved the world is over this tragedy. The funds raised to date can never bring a loved one back, but it certainly makes a
strong statement of love and compassion by people everywhere.
Our thoughts go out to all affected and hope that they can find strength knowing the world cares.
