Rockets mourn tragedy

It is with heavy hearts that the Kelowna Rockets announce that former Tacoma Rockets captain Scott Thomas' son Evan Thomas lost his life in the horrific crash on Friday evening in Saskatchewan involving a semi-truck and the team bus of the Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL.

Evan is being remembered as a boy who was devoted to hockey, and who was an excellent player. The 18 year old just completed his rookie season with the Broncos.

Evan's father Scott captained the Tacoma Rockets during the 1991-1992 WHL season.

Friday's crash has a devastating fatality count of 15, with 14 more being treated for injuries in hospital.

The Kelowna Rockets organization sends our deepest condolences to Scott, the Thomas family, and everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.

The hockey community lost 15 family members that will be remembered forever.

Our hearts go out to the entire Humboldt Broncos organization.
