Corrections officer wages

After reading the news story about how many corrections officers are leaving their poorly paid jobs to go work for a federal facility where wages are a so much more acceptable. Dean Purdy, VP of corrections is worried about the high turnover rate.

I say with extreme sarcasm that it must be just awful only being paid $60,000 a year. Dean says "it's hard for them to make a go of things". Are we supposed to feel sorry for them? I think they are being paid quite well. Yes, dealing with criminals is not easy, but should never be compared to municipal police or RCMP.

Having a career with the government is now looking like winning the lottery. Above average wages, golden pension and no risk of loosing your job.
