Perks vs wages

How much is enough profit? I realize the increase in minimum wage is a direct hit to a business owner's bottom line, but let's get real and look at some of the franchises.

Some are in the news because owners want to eliminate a simple perk such as a coffee/smoke break. They even want to make employees pay half of the cost of their other benefits. Let's face it, if you can be lucky enough to own your own franchise, you have a licence to print money.

As a matter of fact, there are lineups so long to order a coffee or lunch, that it is obvious that they are under staffed. Some restaurants have even reduced their business hours because the can't find enough people to work for them.

That has to be the dumbest decision I've ever heard. You can't make money with the doors closed.
