Logging trucks and ATVs

As a long time Kelowna resident before moving to Christina Lake, I can remember seeing trains on the KVR, and messing around the trestles long before the trail was even contemplated.

After moving to Christina Lake, I started becoming a steady user of the Trans Canada trail in my area.  We also have spectacular vistas from the trail, a large metal trestle crossing the Kettle River, Cascade falls and some spectacular rock walls above Christina Lake.

I have no idea how many times I have cursed an ATV or dirt bike racing down the trail.

Many environmentally conscious people may not realize that the trail is open to ATVs on the entire route unless otherwise noted.  Funny that the Myra area is the only area that I have found that ATVs are not allowed.  I believe Grand Forks is also an area where ATVs are not permitted, but I believe that it is because the trail uses roadways through town and am guessing they are not too keen on having an ATV racing down the city streets.

And now I find out that Interfor has made it be known to the government that they would like to shut down the trail in the Christina Lake area so that they can log in the area and use the trail as a logging road!

So beware Kelowna, one day you may find that your beloved trail, will become a logging road.

I never would have believed it would happen on my part of the trail, but it is being pushed as I write this.

Ironically, the American logging company is trying to shut down the trail to sell wood to the U.S. with the recent duties imposed on Canada.

Ms. Clark seems to talk tough in front of the cameras, but it would seem that it is all hot air.

I implore all that are concerned to write their MLA.  I have written my Liberal MLA, Linda Larson, but apparently she is too busy to respond to me with questions I had.
