ICBC windshield coverage

So ICBC is going to cover windshield repairs.

I suggest they talk to their friends in Ministry of Highways since they are the reason for most of the windshield claims.

Their policy “On main provincial highways, no piece of winter abrasive is allowed to be over 12.5mm in diameter. That’s about the size of a Cheerio.” I know first hand these “Cheerios” take out my windshield almost every year, not to mention the paint chips. They suggest slowing down but that doesn’t help when you get passed.

I asked through a FOA request to see the contract and how they inspect/audit to ensure the contractors are fulfilling their obligations. They wanted over $500 to give me what should have been available with a key stroke.

Other jurisdictions use much smaller aggregate to mitigate the damage, but not in BC. I guess we should be used to being hosed by all levels of government.
