Benefit for Life Day

September is Suicide Prevention Month. Industry leaders and the community are again coming together to show support and to benefit positive mental health at the 2nd Annual Benefit for Life Day gala on September 9th, 2016.

Please join us in honour of Benefit for Life Day, World Suicide Prevention Day and Suicide Prevention Month. The LifeLine Canada Foundation (TLC) will host the Benefit for Life gala at The Delta Grand Resort in Kelowna on September 9th. The downtown Kelowna Sails will be lit up in purple from September 9th through September 10th and again October 10th on LighUpPurple/World Mental Health Day. Benefit for Life Day and WSPD activities will include online campaigns for youth and communities across Canada.

This premiere event will see guests enjoy an extraordinary evening with the in-house chef’s custom-designed hors d’oeuvres, decadent desserts, open bar, home grown artistic talents, special guest speakers and a fantastic band of musical all-stars.

We have received proclamations for September 9th, Benefit for Life Day from Kelowna City Mayor Colin Basran, BC Minister of Justice, Attorney General and Lieutenant Governor. On this day we will also announce the new partnership and start of The Pets for Veterans program in BC and Alberta.

Throughout September, Kelowna restaurants will bring the conversations of positive mental health to the forefront. TLC’s ”Food For Thought” initiative brings 30 top Kelowna Restaurants together in support of Suicide Prevention Month. One restaurant chef per day will design multiple course meals while using ingredients proven to be a positive influence on our mental health.

On World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10, The Kelowna community shows solidarity with the #LeaveYourLightOn campaign, encouraging the community to leave their exterior lights on between 8pm and 11pm in honour of those who are struggling, loved ones who have been lost or who have been saved and for grieving family, friends and communities.
