In support of Sugarplum

With all due respect to Mr. Stariha, his world view clashes with the direction that Kelowna is going and that many of its citizens want to take this city.

Kelowna had, for many years, been represented at the federal and municipal levels by people that did not embrace the progressive and inclusive perspectives of a younger generation that demanded them. As that generation comes of age, it is not surprising that Colin Basran and Stephen Fuhr have become elected representatives of Kelowna. Both men encourage and promote tolerance and respect for people from all walks of life.

You might not be supportive of a mayor that uses his platform to promote acceptance of the LGBTQ community. Many communities across Canada, however, have seen the "Mayor Sugarplum" story and their citizens expressed wishes that their own municipal and other elected officials were so accepting and forward-looking.

I also look forward to the next election, where myself and others can show our support for a mayor who promotes an image of Kelowna as a city that respects and values all of its citizens.
