Kelly Guard Not Perfect

In regards to the "kelly guard snubbed again" article on may 22nd:

I'm really getting tired of non-hockey people who think that Kelly Guard is Gods gift to goaltending!

I attended 30 home games this season and I painfully watched Kelly Guard let in soft goal after soft goal. Games 5,6 and 7 against Everett come to mind.

Kelly Guard plays for a defensively minded team that allows very few shots per game. Don't let Guard's stats fool you. Any goalie could put up those types of numbers with a defense like the Rockets playing in front of him. A really good goalie like Cam Ward or Josh Harding might of had 20 shutouts!

Kelly Guard was not snubbed or overlooked! Cam Ward is first team all-star and WHL player of the year because he could make the "big save".

Guard can't be counted on in that situation when the game is on the line. If Ward or Harding was in net for the Rockets not only would they have probably won last years Memorial Cup, they would also have won the WHL this year. There is a reason why Guard was never drafted and Ward is a first round choice. Sure Ottawa signed him but I would not put a whole lot of stock into that. He's a career minor leaguer at best!
