Dog license visit

I have been a dog owner for most of my life and I have never been more put off by how low the regional district has gone.

Dog control officers are going door to door to those dog owners who did not renew their license. I cannot believe that time and money is being spent on this rather then going after those owners who do not clean up after their dogs or those who let their dogs run off leash in restricted areas.

These individuals called themselves “officers” and threatened my son with a $300 fine.  What if my dog had deceased? They were aggressive and threatening. Yes, I did not renew, however, I thought I would wait until January when the new licenses would be issued.  Yes I am bad, but I feel like the Regional District has hit a new low.

We live in a democratic country and if I get caught with my dog out and about without a license and I get charged $300, that is my problem and I took the risk. But to actually come to my house and threaten me with a fine is beyond my understanding.  They then went to my neighbours and did the same thing.

The manpower  and money to do this kind of intimidation to me is far more then what they will get in dollars.  Is there not enough work to keep this employees busy?  If I had known registering my dog a year ago would result in this action, I would never have done it.  Showing up in a fancy truck, with computers looking up those who did not renew, going to their door, threatening fines is not acceptable.

What kind of city to we live in? Go after real issues!
