I commute on North Glenmore daily. My comment is that we (myself and several hundred other drivers) follow the curving contours of this road in an attempt to avoid the insanity. The insanity is the routing of the pan-North American Highway through the densiest part of the city.
Drivers on Highway 97 have grown accustomed to competing for pole position and/or running that last bit of yellow light in an attempt to arrive at work on time. Whenever I opt for that route, I arrive at work with a clenched jaw and white knuckles. Our little North Glenmore allows for at least a notch lower in the insanity.
Should you significantly alter the Glenmore route in any aspect, it may become necessary to re-enter the craziness of the Highway 97 race to town. Obviously I am feeling that the problem is with Highway 97, but I usually opt for the alternate route to avoid its unpleasantness. It is the only alternative open to me and it currently works well. This cannot be said about Highway 97.
