Postpone the referendum

I am writing this letter to ask the District of Lake Country to please postpone the upcoming referendum to borrow money for the purchase of the old CN rail line. All the people want to know is the true cost to do this and the District has so far not told us this. According to Ron Seymour’s story in Thursdays Daily Courier, the District will have to deal with two land owners in Oyama that have first rights to buy their property from the CN. The District has know this all along and never told us in order to get people to vote yes in the referendum. Without the railroad going through these properties the value of property will be twice as much if not more. This could cost millions to buy these properties which the tax payers will be paying for.

The District will still have to deal with the Okanagan Indian Band somewhere down the road and this could cost millions. For these reasons I am asking the District of Lake Country to please postpone the upcoming referendum until all of these issues have been settled.
