IBEW threatens to picket repair shops

My thoughts are as follows,

Just read the threatening letter the IBEW sent out to the auto repair/dealerships. As a business owner and employer I find this appalling. Vehicles need to be maintained and it is the responsibility of Fortis to ensure this is done for the safety of everyone on the road.  This needs to be done reguardless of who is operating them. To say that a repair shop is siding with anyone if they accept work given them is insane. If the union members were in the vehicles I'm sure they would want them running safely.

To drag other businesses into this fight is a desperate attempt to pressure Fortis to back down. In all honesty I don't know all the issues being disputed between Fortis and the Union. I did however read that the issues went to mediation in an attempt to find middle ground between the two parties.

The end result of which the UNION did not agree with the mediator and chose not to settle. FYI, from an outside perspective the union chose not to accept the mediation terms so they are still not working. To say at this point that they are being locked out is not entirely correct. In short, accept the mediation terms, stop dragging innocent businesses into this and get back to work.
