Free curling, a fundraiser for the Kelowna Gospel Mission, Diwali celebrations and the start of the Christmas shopping season highlight events around the Central Okanagan this week.

At the Rotary Centre for the Arts, Craft Culture begins its run of holiday markets with Winter Warm Up on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you miss out, there will also be markets at the Delta Grand Hotel on Nov. 10, at the RCA again on Nov. 29 & 30 and at Prospera Place from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8.

In Lake Country, the 35th annual Christmas Craft Sale takes over the memorial hall on Bottom Wood Lake Road on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A first-of-its-kind Diwali Market goes Saturday, at Don-O-Ray Farms from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The farm is teaming up with East Kelowna Market and inviting the public to experience the joy and colour of the festival of lights.

The Kelowna Curling Club hosts a free youth give-it-a-try open house from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There's no need to register, just show up a couple of minutes ahead of start time. Participants get hot dogs, hot chocolate and candy floss.

The Kelowna Gospel Mission is set to host its inaugural Ultimate Takeout Challenge Grand Finale & Gala on Saturday at Metro Hub on Ellis Street. After six weeks of competition, the final two chefs will face off in a culinary showdown, creating dishes using mystery ingredients. The goal of the gala is to raise $50,000 for the Kelowna Gospel Mission.
