Ultimate Takeout Challenge raising money for Kelowna's homeless
Gala for Gospel Mission
As homelessness continues to rise in Kelowna, so do the efforts to support those in need.
The Kelowna Gospel Mission is set to host its inaugural Ultimate Takeout Challenge Grand Finale & Gala on Nov. 2, an event designed to bring compassion to the city’s vulnerable.
After a six-week competition featuring 16 local chefs, the challenge has narrowed down to the final two competitors: Chef Erik Fassbind from Salt & Brick and Chef Brett Thompson from Relvas Catering.
The final chefs will face off in a culinary showdown at the gala, where they will create dishes using mystery ingredients.
Gala attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite dish, ultimately crowning the Ultimate Takeout Champion, who will receive a championship belt and bragging rights for the next year.
The gala is set to take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Metro Community Hub.
“If you love amazing food and wine, live jazz, and world-class entertainment, then this night is for you! We are beyond grateful to the Okanagan Chef’s Association and all the chefs who have participated in the competition, creating incredible, healthy meals for our unhoused neighbours,” said Troy McKnight, Director of Resource Development at Kelowna's Gospel Mission.
The goal of the event is to raise $50,000 for Kelowna Gospel Mission.
