Tragically Hip tribute show raising money for KGH Foundation

Concert to support KGH

The Tragically Hip tribute act The Hip Replacements will be playing Revelry Food and Music Hub to raise money for the KGH Foundation's cancer care program.

GEDfest YLW is set to take place Oct. 19, to celebrate the life and legacy of Gordon Edgar Downie and the music of the Tragically Hip. Rounding out the lineup is local Kelowna act Chick Jagger and the Rolling Tones.

The event is trying to raise $25,000 in support of the KGH Foundation's cancer care program.

Last year, over 7,500 people from the Central Okanagan, and surrounding communities in B.C.’s Southern Interior underwent surgery or were admitted for cancer-related care at Kelowna General Hospital.

"The KGH Foundation is very grateful to be the recipients of the proceeds from this event, being held in Kelowna for the first time. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all sponsors who choose to donate to and support this event," says Carly Malchuk with the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.

GEDfest 2024 celebrates Downie's contributions to Canadian music and culture while giving back to the community through the power of live music and charity.

There are simultaneous events scheduled for Calgary and Edmonton. Organizers are hoping the event will catch on and spread across Canada.
