
The People Lived Experience Society is hosting a round dance celebration on International Overdose Awareness Day and are encouraging the public to participate.
Being held on Saturday, Aug. 31 at Kerry Park in downtown Kelowna, this event is dedicated to raising awareness about overdose, reducing stigma and honouring the lives lost to toxic drugs.
The one-event will feature traditional dancing and singing, bannock, smudging, naloxone training and connections to local services.
The event will include the drum group Spotted Horse, the master of ceremonies will be Richard Jackson, bannock will be provided by J&N Catering, with tea and coffee from Starbucks.
The event is free to the public and runs from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
A candlelight vigil will then be held at 9:00 p.m. by Moms Stop the Harm.
