An Okanagan author’s book about scaling a company, growing rich and doing so without ruining your personal life hit shelves earlier this week.
Penguin’s Portfolio on Tuesday released Buy Back Your Time, which was written by Kelowna’s Dan Martell. The book teaches entrepreneurs to budget their time.
“Having coached thousands of entrepreneurs from across the world, I noticed something profound: most founders work unnecessarily long hours,” Martell said in a press release. “They were taught to believe that more time working equals more money in the bank.
“I’ve been there myself while struggling to build several businesses and learned the hard way. I lost touch with myself and my loved ones, and had a failed engagement, all for the sake of getting ahead.”
Martell knows about the topic because he lived it. He hit rock bottom while building a business and came home after a long day of work to find his fiancée standing at the front door with her bags packed and her engagement ring in her hand.
Martell wrote the book after successfully scaling and exiting three startups, building two eight-figure businesses, completing several ironmans, travelling the world and gaining valuable time back in his calendar.
