Chris Rocks isn’t only his name; it’s also a lifestyle.
And now it’s the theme of his new business.
Rocks has started a Kelowna company called Concert Caravans, a hassle-free, door-to-door service that takes you to and from Penticton concerts or sporting events. It also offers a pre-party.
“Our team is dedicated to ensuring that our customers have the best possible time at every event, from start to finish,” Rocks said.
Rocks, who says he “lives and breathes music,” has been in the entertainment industry for three decades. He started in Edmonton and has also worked for some of North America’s biggest tour operators in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. His full-time gig in Kelowna is working for the production team at Prospera Place, and he saw a need for Concert Caravans to get music and sports lovers to and from Penticton safely.
The South Okanagan Events Center scores several big concerts each year, and Concert Caravans offers everything from limousine or Escalade service to a 50-passenger bus—depending on the need and his client’s budget. Rocks has a Class 1 licence, and he said everyone on his team is “over qualified” and “very experienced” when it comes to transporting people.
“One of the reasons why I’m doing this is to take drinking and driving off the road,” Rocks said. “Less cars mean less possibilities of accidents.”
Concert Caravans will officially roll for the first time on Saturday, when Anthrax takes the stage at SOEC as part of its 40th anniversary tour. The pre-party will take place at Runaways Lounge, where patrons will receive a burger, fries, drink specials and have a chance to win prizes.
“After all the ups and downs, I’ve found my home in Kelowna and have surrounded myself with the greatest people, whether they are musicians, promoters or just like-minded individuals who share my love of music,” Rocks said.
“My goal is to bring together people who share this passion and create a sense of community.”
