Environment Canada says temperatures expected to warm up by end of the week

Cool to start the week

The Thompson-Okanagan will stay under a ridge of high pressure that will keep temperatures well below freezing for much of the week.

"In addition to that we have a deep system over central Canada that is slumping into the Praries and that is also just bringing in a modified arctic air mass through B.C. That is keeping our temperatures below seasonal and conditions cool," said Ken Dosanjh, Environment Canada meteorologist.

Dosanj says towards the end of the work week temperatures will climb back up to near normal for this time of year.

"We are looking at lows in the minus single digits and our daytime high is hovering near zero, maybe just below," he added.

Monday will see a high of -8 C with mainly cloudy periods with a low of -11 C overnight.

Tuesday should reach a high of -7 C with a chance of flurries.

Wednesday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of -6 C. The overnight low will reach -8 C with a chance of flurries.

Thursday will see snow with a high of -3 C.

Both Friday and Saturday should climb to -1 C with a chance of flurries.
