Joe Rich urged to make this year’s community food drive the best-ever

Joe Rich food drive

Demand at the Central Okanagan Food Bank has surged by more than 30 per cent, making the annual Joe Rich Fire Rescue community food drive even more important this year.

It’s the 18th annual fundraiser and they want it to be the best-ever.

Residents are asked to leave donations on their doorstep, porch or at the end of their driveway on the morning of Sunday, December 11. Joe Rich Fire Rescue members will be going around the community to collect food, cash and cheque donations between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Donations can also be dropped off at bins set up at Fire Station 51 (11481 Highway 33 East) or Fire Station 52 (6550 Goudie Road).

Last year, Joe Rich raised more than 1,100 kilograms of food and over $2,000 in donations for the Central Okanagan Food Bank. For every dollar in monetary donations, the food bank can purchase $3 worth of food.
